Mission Statement

The Discovery Bible New Testament is a product of H.E.L.P.S. Ministries Inc., a not-for-profit 501(c)(3), tax-exempt corporation dedicated to bringing Bible literacy and leadership training throughout the world.  This ministry sponsors leadership institutes for plumbing the fuller meaning of the sacred original text of Scripture.  The approach focuses on developing skills for effective preaching and teaching of the Word of God.
H.E.L.P.S. Ministries began in 1987 with the release of the best-seller study-Bible, The Discovery Bible New Testament (Moody Publishers) by Drs. Gary Hill and Gleason Archer.  This work provides insights from the Greek NT so all motivated Bible readers can appreciate “beyond-translation-insights” of the sacred, original text.
Dr. Hill has conducted “practical exegesis” seminars in hundreds of cities in a dozen countries, including over twenty Christian universities and seminaries as well as many Christian radio and television programs.  More than 30,000 church leaders (pastors) have participated.
Sponsors include: Regent University, Liberty University, Moody Bible Institute, Dallas Theological Seminary, Bibles for Africa, Mindanao Crusade (Philippines), Scripture Press (England).

Present Ministry

As a ministry couple, Gary and Joan Hill have a burning call from God to help people grow in their preaching and teaching abilities.  Areas of particular interest are:
applying original language insights for building sermons with a “functional" Hebrew and Greek approach to interpretation.
learning through debate by developing critical thinking skills, logic, etc.
acquiring an in-depth understanding of the great terms of Scripture (such as faith, hope and love).
developing hermeneutical skills.

During conferences, as Gary teaches on the areas listed above, Joan leads practical discussions (particularly for women) on key topics like: how to have a healthy/vibrant sexual relationship in marriage, gender-distinctives, the role of women in the church, sanctification and abundant living, and studying New Testament prophecy.
